Garden 2011 Update

So there's no need for pictures...just picture a bare spot of dirt, about 40'x35' with strings staked out to mark where our rows will go, plus some watered down rows and a couple bricks marking where we started and ended specific rows. Yep, that's it!

But we did get some things in the ground Sunday! Josh raked the bigger dirt clods to the walkways and I planted peas, carrots, and red onions, and he planted spinach, lettuce, and yellow onions. After we get out of our frost time here, corn, green beans, zucchini, watermelon, pumpkins, more yellow onions (to have two crops), more lettuce and spinach, bell peppers, jalapenos, and tomatoes will join the seeds in the ground (I'll probably buy the rest already started. Next year we are planning on starting our own seeds.).

Last year someone told me that they used newspaper and brown paper bags with straw on top between the rows to keep the weeds down, so we're going to try that with leftover cardboard boxes leftover from moving. The boxes are broken down and we will put the cardboard down probably when we plant the rest of the garden.

Now if we could just get an outside water faucet so I didn't have to haul 5 gallon buckets of water from the shower to the garden...
